Nasolabial folds are creases that run diagonally from the corners of your nose to the corners of your mouth.  They are a normal part of the aging process, and they are one of the earliest signs of facial aging.  Nasolabial folds are caused by the skin’s natural tendency to sag from lost collagen and elastin as our body’s production slows down with age.  Collagen and elastin provide the scaffolding – or support structure- for good, healthy skin, and both are essential to prevent the downward descent of our facial skin. So, nasolabial folds form as aging skin literally slides downward on the face and folds over the lower portion of the face. DERMAL FILLER INJECTION PROCEDURE:
Injections, into the creases of the nasolabial folds, take from 15-40 minutes using a very fine needle and precisely measured doses.  For your comfort a local anesthetic is used before treatment begins. Dr. Cole will determine this during your personal consultation.  If you start early enough dermal fillers could be a good option – depending upon the degree of facial aging.  If surgery is needed – Dr. Cole will discuss your options for this.

How Does A Dermal Filler Reduce Nasolabial Folds?
The folds appear as our own collagen and elastin which supports the skin slowly depletes with age. When injected directly into the creases, the gel-like consistency replaces the lost volume and creates a firm support foundation under the skin allowing the layers to unfold.  

Who Is A Good Candidate For Nasolabial Fold Treatments?
Any man or woman who is in otherwise good health and has a desire to restore a more youthful to the mid-face could be an ideal candidate.  Your expectations and goals should be realistic.
